Kendall + Michael // Domaine Les Martins, Gordes, France

A bit about you two! How did you two first meet?

We met in our first class on the first day of university! We started off as just friends, then after a few study dates and late nights in the library, we couldn't stop spending time with each other! It's been nearly 8 years now, and we've been smitten ever since. :)

The proposal? ...Tell us everything!

I (Kendall) was ready to be engaged for a while (we had already lived together two years, and were in the process of purchasing our first home!) but Michael was waiting for juuuuuuust the right moment. To be completely honest, I tried to trick him into proposing by planning an amazing mountain getaway, and basically served up the perfect opportunity on a silver platter, but he sensed I was up to something, and to keep me on my toes, he kept holding my hands, looking me in the eyes, telling me how much he loved me and then....NOT PROPOSING. Having given up on him popping the question for the time being, just shy of our five year anniversary, and two days before we were set to move across the country, he decided we "really needed to go camping". We LOVE camping, but with the stress of the move, I kept telling him that it really wasn't a good time, but he persisted, since we wouldn't be as close to our favorite national park anymore. Anyway, long story short, we set off to "go camping" in Yosemite National Park, and right when we approached a beautiful grove of ancient redwood trees on an amazing hike, he proposed. I was genuinely surprised, and was sweaty, no makeup, and certainly no nice manicure, but it was an absolutely wonderful moment, which I'll cherish forever - just the way I would have wanted it. He really redeemed himself— I'll keep him. ;)

You guys? ...What do you do?..How do you spend your days?..What's important in life?

The best way to describe us together is... best friends. We both work from home, so we literally spend all day everyday together. People ask us how we manage that without getting sick of each other and, for us, it has always just been so easy. We miss each other if the other one goes to the grocery store for too long. We're just like one person split into two people. But I'm the funnier one (Kendall). No she's not (Michael). For fun, we love to try new things, especially! We love the outdoors, and separately, Michael loves rock climbing and Kendall loves knitting. For us, family and quality time is the most important thing in life. We believe in being there for each other through the whole spectrum of the human experience (good, bad, and ugly!), and sticking around no matter what life brings. We also are parents to the world's most stupidly cute dog, Goose, who is 100 pounds of black fluffy emotional support. He's our greatest treasure so far. :)

The Venue/s? ... Why this place above anywhere else?

We studied abroad together in Lausanne, Switzerland, and used to speak a bit of French (we're terrible now, sadly!). That being said, we've always loved French culture and food, and after a few years of COVID delays, we thought... might as well go for a vacation/wedding duo! We fell in love with the venue, and the owners, David and Regis, and it has always just spoken to us. You can feel the love poured into the space, and the owner's hospitality is just beyond... we're big on genuine people and heartfelt spaces, and our venue has just always felt like the real-deal to us!

What experience do you want to give to your guests?

We know that, realistically, our family will never be able to travel all together across the world like this again. We are so looking forward to creating memories and stories that we can reminisce on for the rest of our lives. Our family is soooooo close, we are all the best of friends, and we just want each guest to feel how much they've positively impacted our relationship, and how grateful we are for all of them. They're really so special to us!
